Former child actor who went off radar



Not all child actors turn out to be equally successful in the movie business as adults. A perfect example of this is Craig Lamar Traylor, the beloved character in the early 2000s American TV sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle. Traylor’s presence on the show was one of the reasons fans were so endeared to it, given his funny and lovable personality. He found success as a child actor.

However, as an adult, Traylor has not done much acting and has yet to make a significant comeback on the scene. Regardless of this, the classic TV show in which he starred remains one for the history books in American television.

Craig Lamar Traylor, born on March 19, 1989, had a special journey in the world of acting. When he was just seven, he appeared on TV in shows like ER, a movie called Matilda (1996) and the television sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle (2000). But it was when he was eleven that he got his big break on a popular show called Malcolm in the Middle in 2000.

Growing up, he wore glasses for his eyesight but did not need a wheelchair like his character on Malcolm in the Middle. Traylor attended Rancho Cucamonga High School and graduated in 2007.

In his free time, Traylor loved dancing, especially a style called Krump Buck Dancing. He lived with his family in Los Angeles and enjoyed acting a lot.

In 2014, a then-25-year-old Lamar joined a spiritual group but left after a while. Later on, in 2019, he became a wire artist and made wearable art. His journey from a young TV actor to an artist with unique talents shows how diverse and interesting his life has been.

Traylor’s career has been marked by early successes in acting, a memorable role on a popular TV show and later pursuits as an artist.

At just five years old, Traylor made his television debut in the medical drama series, ER. In 1996, at the age of seven, he had roles in ER and Matilda.

However, it was in the year 2000, when Traylor was just 11 years old, that he achieved his breakthrough role. He portrayed the character “Stevie Kenarban” on the popular TV show Malcolm in the Middle. Initially meant to be a one-time appearance in the first episode, his portrayal of Stevie’s character resonated with audiences, and he became a fan favourite. Stevie’s role was unique because he used a wheelchair. His talent earned him recognition from the public.

Traylor has received recognition for his acting talent through awards and nominations. In 2003, Craig won the Young Artist Award for “Best Ensemble in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama)” for his role in Malcolm in the Middle. He shared this award with fellow cast members Frankie Muniz, Justin Berfield, Erik Per Sullivan and Kyle Sullivan.

He was also nominated for the Young Artist Award for “Best Performance in a TV Comedy Series – Supporting Young Actor”. In the same year, he was nominated for “Best Ensemble in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama)”.

Outside of acting, Traylor had a passion for dancing, particularly a style known as “Krump Buck Dancing”. He was also known for his interest in art and creativity.

After the conclusion of Malcolm in the Middle and his high school graduation in 2007 from Rancho Cucamonga High School, Traylor’s career took an interesting turn. He joined a spiritual group in 2014, which led to a period of isolation from society. However, he didn’t stay in the group for long and eventually left.

By 2019, Craig had transitioned into a different artistic field. He had become a wire artist, creating wearable art pieces.
