During his teenage years, he gained local recognition as the champion of the Roller Boogie Contest and this marked the start of him showcasing his diverse talents and interests.

The actor received his education at Markham College in Lima, Peru. He was active as a vocalist during the mid-eighties, leading a pop group known as “Imágenes”. He began acting at the age of 20. He then furthered his education at the university, where he initially pursued studies in Business Management and Psychology. However, he left his academic pursuits behind after discovering his true calling in the world of drama

He stood at an approximate height of 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm) and was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio. Bertie was an avid sports enthusiast and maintained his physical fitness through various activities, including soccer, windsurfing, squash, football, basketball, and aerobics.

His parents were Jaime Bertie Espejo and Enriqueta Brignardello Belmont. Bertie had three siblings which included siblings Fernando Bertie, Monica Bertie, and Gonzalo Bertie.

Diego Bertie passed away on August 5, 2022, at the age of 54. He lost his life in a terrible accident when he fell from the 14th floor of his building in Miraflores, Peru, around 4 a.m. Paramedics and firefighters quickly responded to the scene, where they found Bertie in his garage.

The paramedics rushed him to the Jose Casimiro Ulloa Emergency Hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival. The fall from the 14th floor had caused serious fractures and head injuries.

While initial reports suggest that the actor likely lost his balance and fell accidentally, authorities, along with criminal experts and the Miraflores police, went into action to investigate the exact circumstances of this tragic incident to determine the precise cause of his death.

His sudden passing saddened many, with social media, particularly Twitter, flooded with heartfelt tributes and condolences from people around the world when they learned of his demise.
