The movie industry is filled with immense talent, ranging from young up-and-comers to seasoned veterans. For an actor like Dustin Milligan, he embodies a bit of both. Dustin Wallace Milligan, born in July 1985, is a Canadian actor renowned for his portrayal of “Ethan Ward” in the teenage drama TV show, 90210, from 2008 to 2009. He also portrayed the roles of “Josh Carter” in the American television comedy series, Rutherford Falls, from 2021 to 2022; “Ted Mullens” in the Canadian television comedy series, Schitt’s Creek, from 2015 to 2020; and “Tom Cummings” in the Canadian spy thriller series, X Company, from 2015 to 2016. He has also starred in several films on the silver screen.

Being the daughter of Brian Milligan and Jean Wallace, Milligan is from Yellowknife, in the Northwest Territories. His romantic relationship with actress Amanda Crew began in October 2010.

Dustin Milligan’s career

Milligan has had quite an illustrious career run over the last decade. With over 18 years in the film business, he has shown versatility and has an impressive catalogue to show for it. He is well-regarded for his portrayal of “Ted Mullens” in Schitt’s Creek and “Ethan Ward” in The CW’s 90210, a spin-off of the 1990s primetime drama, Beverly Hills, 90210. He departed from the show at the end of the initial season.

His cinematic credits include Final Destination 3 (2006), Slither (2006), The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006), In the Land of Women (2007), Butterfly on a Wheel (2007), The Messengers (2007) and Extract (2009).

The CW scooped up Milligan for the main role in the brief primetime suspense thriller, Runaway, which debuted in September 2006 but was cancelled in October after just three of the nine episodes had aired.

He was featured in the Canadian network’s Eight Days to Live, where he played the missing son of the The O.C. star, Kelly Rowan. He has also made appearances in television series such as The Days, Andromeda, The Dead Zone, Alice, I Think, Supernatural and Da Vinci’s City Hall.

In 2010, he portrayed “Kyle Halsted” in the indie action crime drama film, Repeaters. In 2011, he starred in the horror thriller, Shark Night 3D. He also played “Nick Nader” in the suspense thriller, The Entitled, and “Rory” in the indie film, Sisters & Brothers. In 2012, he took on the role of “Sam Reed” in the Love at the Christmas Table, co-starring Danica McKellar. He made an appearance in the Funny or Die video Post Apocalypse News with Elisabeth Hower.

He played “Callum Beck” in the thriller Ferocious in 2013. Milligan played “Detective Reverend Grizzly Night-Bear” in Bad City from the 1970s in 2014. In the horror movie Demonic, which was produced by James Wan, he played “John”.

He was cast as “Tom Cummings”, the lead in the spy thriller television series, X Company, in 2015. He played the veterinarian “Ted Mullens” in all six of the Schitt’s Creek seasons. He had a cameo appearance on the television programme Silicon Valley as “Blaine”. He co-starred with Aly Michalka in Sequoia later in 2015, where he played the character of “Ogden”.

He went on to play “Cory” in the comedy film Me Him Her (2016), which was written and directed by Max Landis. He portrayed “Nicholas Grey” in the mystery-thriller, Primary. He also starred in the BBC America series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency as “Sgt. Hugo Friedkin”, a dimwitted federal agent who collaborates with Riggins.

Then, out of the blue, he surprised fans by competing in the 2020 season of “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race”. He even managed to collect £20,000 for a charity named Project HEAL. This was after he competed against Alex Newell and Matt Iseman.
