Michael Nouri is an American screen and stage actor. He has appeared in several television shows, as well as Broadway and off-Broadway plays.

Michael Nouri was born on December 9, 1945, in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States of America. However, he was raised in New York City and Alpine, New Jersey, respectively. Nouri was a difficult child growing up and often got into fights at school. As a result, he was transferred to Avon Old Farms School, an all-boys boarding school in Connecticut, where he became the student body president. It was also in that school he made up his mind to become a professional actor after featuring in a Gilbert and Sullivan play.

Afterwards, Nouri attended Rollins College and Emerson College. In addition, he was briefly a student under Prem Rawat and participated in his three-day festival, Millennium ’73.

Nouri worked as a waiter while he tried creating a career in acting. His first acting gig was an off-Broadway production of The Crucible. After that, he landed his first Broadway show, Forty Carats, which ran for two years. He also appeared in another Broadway show, Victor/Victoria, alongside English actress, Julie Andrews.

In 1969, Nouri made his film debut Goodbye, Columbus. However, it was the 1983 romantic drama, Flashdance, that brought him fame. Nouri played “Nick Hurley” in the film and it became one of the highest-grossing films that year, despite mixed reviews. He has since appeared in other successful films and television shows such as  The O.C.DamagesNCIS, Army Wives, SVU: Law & Order, Yellowstone, All My Children and Hawaii Five-O.

Nouri was once nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for his role as “Steve Kaslow” on Search for Tomorrow. He was also a nominee for the Saturn Award for “Best Actor” for The Hidden. In 1987, Nouri won the  Sitges Film Festival award for “Best Actor” for The Hidden.

Nouri’s parents are Gloria (née Montgomery) and Edmond Nouri. Edmond Nouri was an Iraqi immigrant from Baghdad who arrived in the United States on a Georgetown University scholarship. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and became a writer for Stars and Stripes and The New Yorker.

Michael Nouri was married and divorced twice. He was first married to Lynn Goldsmith before his second marriage was to Vicki Light. Nouri has two daughters, Hannah and Jennifer.

Nouri is an ambassador of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause he became involved in after one of his ex-wives became affected by the condition. His most recent appearance in television shows is on The Watcher, an ongoing series that began airing in 2022.
