Former child star famous for playing ‘Lavagirl’



Taylor Marie Dooley was born on February 26, 1993, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, United States of America. Her parents reportedly named her after singer and actress, Taylor Dayne.

Dooley reportedly studied Psychology. She also studied Theatre at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York.

Dooley began a career at a young age. She did modelling and participated in many beauty pageants in her school. At the age of five, she was named “The cutest baby” at a contest held in her home state of Michigan. When she turned nine, she enrolled into the Phoenix Theater troupe, where she learned about the acting profession and also booked commercials. Some of the commercials she was involved in include a national advertisement for Famous Footwear, the Mary-Kate and Ashley clothing line, the Odyssey Honda minivan and Disney Superstar Kids.

Dooley was also involved in some stage performances. At the age of 11, she got her big break as she made her film debut, playing “Lavagirl” in Robert Rodriquez’s comic-adventure film, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D. She also dyed her hair in the signature pink colour to play this role. She was nominated for the Young Artist Award for “Best Feature Performance” by a young actress in a film.

In May 2005, Dooley made her television series debut when she starred in an episode of the Nickelodeon family series, U-Pick Live. She appeared in the episode, titled: “MusicWeek: Day 1”, and featured alongside actors like Brent Popolizio, Candace Bailey, Pick Boy, Antonio Neves and Logan Sekulow.

Dooley is the first child of John Dooley and Debbi Dooley. She has a younger brother named Drew Dooley, who is an artist born in 2004. Dooley has Irish, German, English, Sioux Indian, Belgian and Polish ancestry.

Unlike many child stars, Dooley’s parents do not have any Hollywood background. When she began to gain fame in her acting career, her family moved from Michigan to Los Angeles to manage her career in Hollywood.

Taylor Dooley married her long-time boyfriend, Justin Cassotta, on May 14, 2016. The couple dated for six years before officially tying the knot. They welcomed their first child, Jack Alexander Cassotta, on November 23, 2016. On March 22, 2019, the couple welcomed their second child, Adaline Joan Cassotta.

However, Dooley and Cassotta officially divorced in 2021. On August 2, 2023, Dooley subsequently found love again and got married to Nicholas Poppin.
