Former child actress who formed a band with her brother



Tina Yothers is a former American child star known for starring in TV shows like Family Ties, The Cherokee Trail, Crash Course and Spunk: The Tonya Harding Story among others.

Tina Yothers, whose real name is Kristina Louise Yothers, was born on May 5, 1973, in Whittier, California in the United States of America.

Yothers began her career at the early age of three when she starred in commercials like McDonald’s, Bell Telephone and Doritos. Later, she auditioned for a role in the movie Shoot the Moon (1982) and won the part.

However, Yothers became a household name when she played Jennifer Keaton on the hit NBC series, Family Ties, from 1982 to 1989. She also competed in the Battle of the Network Stars in December 1988.

After Family Ties ended, the actor dyed her blonde hair black. She later wrote the book Being Your Best: Tina Yothers’s Guide for Girls. 

Yothers also formed a band, Jaded, with her brother, Cory, and provided the lead vocals while Cory played the keyboard. In 1998, she released a self-titled CD, which was co-written by herself, Cory Yothers and Michael Anderson. The CF was performed by Tina Yothers (lead vocals), Michael Anderson (guitars/vocals), Jerry France (guitars/vocals), Larry Rosales (drums), Mike Wilson (bass) and Phil Jordan from No Doubt on trumpet, and a DJ.

Yothers also sang a cover of The Raes song “Baby I’m Back in Love Again”, which she later recorded as a single, in the Band on the Run episode of Family Ties, which aired February 26, 1987.

After a nine-year hiatus from acting, Yothers returned with a lead role in Lovelace the Musical, a 2004 stage show based on the life of former pornographic film star Linda Lovelace. After that, she played a stock player in the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater in Boca Raton, Florida from 2005 to 2007.

Yothers also appeared as herself on a special TV child stars edition of The Weakest Link in 2001, where she was voted off in round 5. In addition, she was part of the cast in the fourth season of the VH1 reality television show, Celebrity Fit Club. After her second pregnancy, Yothers joined Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp to try to get back to her post-Fit Club weight.

On January 17, 2012, Yothers appeared on the ABC show, Celebrity Wife Swap, where she swapped with Niecy Nash of Reno 911! In February 2013, she was featured on an episode of the TLC series, What Not To Wear.

Yothers is married to Robert Kaiser and they have two children together. She also has two children from a previous marriage.

Yothers is 50 years old as of 2023.
